What Socrates is

Socrates is the coach inside an assignment session. Oracle is the general class assistant in the Module footer. They do different jobs and you control them separately.

In Spark and Flux, Socrates helps students develop their own answers and structure — stretching thinking without handing over a finished paragraph or essay. After Foundry finds gaps, students close them with short Echo or Spark practice from Gap pills (Socrates still coaches inside those Spark and Echo sessions). Staff can optionally open Foundry’s Socrates preview.

In Echo, Socrates closes a missed revision item with one short, guided line after a retry — not a long coaching chat. You set ask limits where the app supports them.

Socrates is not a blank chatbot. It draws on your education authority syllabus (for example SCSA), the class, the student’s year group, and any links or document notes you — or the student, in Playground — provide.
